Chico American Legion Baseball

The Chico Suns Blue are one of two junior legion teams in Chico American Legion Baseball, comprised of 15-17 year old players from Pleasant Valley High School, Chico High School, Durham High School, and Paradise High School.

BEN STAVELEY
Head Coach
6th Year

Coach Staveley begins his fifth year with the Chico Suns Blue team, his first as the head coach. He has spent a total of six years coaching in our program, and has done an incredible job with players, specifically pitchers. He has been the pitching coach for both the Suns Blue and Suns Red teams. In 2008 he helped lead the Suns Blue team to the California State runner up position, while winning the Area 1 and District 4 championships. He also was an assistant coach for Paradise High School where he helped he Bobacts to an EAL title in 2006. For three years he has been an assistant coach at Brescia University, and one year as an assistant at East Central Oklahoma State.

He is a product of Paradise High School, and pitched one season for the Chico Nuts, before moving on to play at Butte College and Brescia University.

MICHAEL MAEHL

Assistant Coach
Second Season

Coach Maehl begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Suns Blue team. He is a graduate of Paradise High School, and played two years for the Chico Nuts before moving on to Butte College and San Jose State. He played football and baseball at Butte where he was named Athlete of the Year.

5th Season

Coach McCormick begins his fifth season within the program, and his first with the Suns Blue team. He has been the head coach for the Suns Red and and an assistant for the Chico Rice. McCormick played at DVC before coming to Chico.

Assistant Coach

Coach Jacop begins his third season as a coach in the program and his first with the Suns Blue team. he has been an assistant with the Suns Red, Hamilton City High School, and Paradise High School. He played at Paradise and for the Chico Nuts before moving on to Butte College.
