TOM STEVENS
Head Coach
14th Year
Coach Stevens is beginning his 14th season as the Head Coach for the Chico Nuts and the Director for Chico American Legion Baseball. During that time he has accumulated an overall record of 442-207 (.681) and won nine district championships and five Norcal League Titles.
During that time period the Chico Nuts have dramatically increased the number of players moving on to play college or professional baseball. Currently 76% of Chico Nuts players are moving on to the next level of baseball.
Stevens is also the head baseball coach at Los Molinos High School where he has coached for 14 years. He has also worked as an associate scout for the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants. He is a graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and grew up in Quartz Hill, California. |
FRED LUDWIG
Assistant Coach
5th Year
Coach Ludwig begins his fourth season as an assistant for the Chico Nuts. He was the head coach at Paradise High School for three years where he led the Bobcats to a Section championship in 2007. He is a product of Butte College and Chico State. |
BRIAN THOMAS
Assistant Coach
4th Year
Coach Thomas begins his fourth season as the pitching coach for the Chico Nuts.He currently is the pitching coach for Butte College, and was also the head coach for the Chico Rice.
Brian played for two years at Chico State, where he received All-American honors as well as Co- MVP. After Chico coach Thomas then played one year of professional baseball with the Yuma Bullfrogs in the WBL.
Brian graduated in 2006 from Chico State University, Chico with a B.A. in Kinesiology. He is currently working on his teaching credential at CSU Chico. |
STEVE JOHNS
Assistant Coach
2nd Year
Coach Johns begins his second year with the nuts and his third season coaching in the program. He is an assiant coach at Butte College, and played for the Chico state Wildcats. |
MATEO MARQUEZ
Assistant Coach
1st Year
Coach Marquez begins his first season with the Chico Nuts. After graduating from Biggs High School he moved on to play collegiate baseball at CSU LA and CSU Dominguez Hills. He was then drafted by the St Louis Cardinals. |
